ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (January 2004) – Her Sports, a new women's sports and lifestyle magazine that will launch in March, and Carmichael Training Systems (CTS) of Colorado Springs, Colo., have announced a partnership to provide cutting edge fitness and training information to women athletes in the pages of Her Sports.
CTS, which is headed by legendary cycling coach Chris Carmichael—coach of five-time Tour de France champion Lance Armstrong—will provide Her Sports readers training tips and plans from its cadre of top coaches in the areas of running, road cycling, mountain biking, triathlon and adventure racing.
Her Sports is aimed at women who participate in a variety of action and adventure sports including the abovementioned as well as hiking, skiing, snowboarding, rock climbing, surfing and a variety of other water sports.
"Both Her Sports and CTS are dedicated to educating women about how to improve their performance and getting the most enjoyment out of their sport as possible," says Her Sports Publisher Dawna Stone. "Our goal is to not just write about sports but to help women thrive and succeed at the sports they love doing."
"The caliber of coaches offered by CTS will help us appeal to a diverse population of women—from serious athletes to beginners who are looking for expert attention in learning how to lead healthy, active lifestyles," Stone adds.
CTS is a leader in endurance training and aerobic development. In addition to Lance Armstrong, its clients include five-time Ironman champion Lisa Bentley, World Champion mountain biker Alison Dunlap, Olympic silver medalist and World Champion cyclist Mari Holden and Olympic Triathlon gold medalist Brigitte McMahon.
"Her Sports is filling the much-needed void in women's fitness publications," stated Carmichael. "A large percentage of CTS athletes are women and I am looking forward to a strong partnership to help women achieve their athletic and fitness goals."
